A current poetic political mess

I tend to dabble in poetry now and then, when inspiration hits. Here are two pieces I have written upon my initial reaction to current affairs. Both are titled.

Braverman's weakness

“Tofu-eating, Guardian-reading wokerati”,
Said the Chancellor with a smirk adorning her face,
An unbecoming twist of fate,
Perhaps was her untimely exit from office,
Breaking the ministerial code,
Conduct shattered,
Trust splattered,
Coalition of chaos, indeed, all around,
Like a cruel merry-go round,
The game of politics runs,
"Out, Out, Out,"
They chanted,
The masses who wanted her gone,
And there she was to be,
“Old, Alone and Forgotten”,
Declared Hook, accepting his fate.
The Prime Minister’s clock is ticking,
Alarm’s about to go,
Perhaps she will soon recognise,
It is her turn, also.

Over for Truss

Truss is gone,
Hip, hip, hooray,
For she is not such a jolly good fellow,
But more of a sinister crocodile,
Snapping at her chances, Gnashing her teeth,
U-turns, incompetency, what a waste of time,
Budgetary failure,
How sublime, Sacked by Brady of the 1922 Committee,
Around, and around the merry go round of politics goes,
Barely forty five days and the hunt begins once again;
A competent leader?
No, what a joke,
We’ll wait in anticipation,
General election, or Prime Minister,
The answer does not seem any easier,
Though Fudge would even be better,
A week, a week, barely any time,
Who will it be this time?
